About
Aims
The project aims to contribute to a more multi-disciplinary approach in empowering Person with a Disability (PWD). Therefore, the project expects that the ‘empowerment profile of service users’, involved in the implementation phase, will increase. In other words, by attending the specific sports activities, service users will become more empowered.
To do so, the project includes onsite meetings and a specific training for coaches and a following implementation phase where sport instructors can assess what developed and learned during trainings and previous project meetings, by working with PWD in their own organisation.
The project results are:
- An article how sports activities contribute to the empowerment of PWD.
- A Compendium of sport activities that contribute to the six dimensions of the Vrijbaan Empowerment Framework (VEF).
- Criteria for selecting ‘best practices examples’ of sport activities that contribute to the empowerment of PWD.
The project results will be integrated in the regular sport activities of the participating organisation. In fact, it means that the empowerment of the Person with a Disability will be one of the cores aims of the sport program and that the sports activities of the Compendium, which have proven evidence to the empowerment of the Person with a Disability, will be part of the regular sport program of the sport facilitator.
